Who needs BRC Certification?

What happens when I have non conformities?

Non-conformities are classified as critical, major or minor depending on their severity against brand risk. Any critical non-compliance is a failure or certificate withdrawal. The site has a certain amount of time to correct any resultant issues to be awarded a certificate.

We already have ISO 9001. What is different about the BRC Global Standard?

I have developed a new product is this covered under my existing certificate?

Certification relates to the audit of the process of a product, if new product development designs a product which is basically produced in the same manner but uses different raw materials then this is not an extension to scope. If new processes, equipment or technology are used which are significantly different and would require a new HACCP plan for example, then this would require another audit visit from the Certification Body.

Is it possible to exclude certain products from the scope of certification?

No. Products from the same branch of production may not be excluded, even if they use different means of production.
